After contemplating (1) my state of financial affairs and (2) the spread of my piles of books from shelves to flat surfaces, flat surfaces to floor, I decided to sell my old law school textbooks.
I thought, looking at them Saturday morning, that I was sufficiently emotionally detached to send them off without even a pang of regret.
How wrong I was.
As I pulled them from the shelf this morning, in all their almost-new shininess -- the forest green ones like Friedenthal, Kane & Miller on Civil Procedure, or its gargantuan neighbor, Nowak & Rotunda on Constitutional Law; or the smart-looking red ones like Cribbet & Johnson on Principles of the Law of Property . . .
