barbeque theology

Lately I've been wondering about the utility of spending a lot of time studying things like philosophy and theology, especially when it's definitely possible to live a long happy life without ever having read a philosophy textbook or agonized over whether God is inside or outside of time.

So it was with some surprise that I found out that my seven- and nine-year-old cousins were having a theological discussion at a family barbeque Saturday.

It went something like this:

Cousin #1: This is good steak.
Cousin #2: Yeah.
Cousin #1: Without sin, we wouldn't be eating steak.
Cousin #2: Yeah. Without sin, we wouldn't have this house!
Cousin #1: Without sin, we'd be NAKED!

So, I think that brings me back to . . . is God inside or outside of time?
