pursuing it with eager feet

Now that I've been home for a couple weeks, I'm not exactly itching to go away again any time soon (well, at least not for another ten days or so . . .). But still, there are things I miss about Oxford (and most likely always will).

Here are some . . .

Er . . . I won't exactly miss my right foot, since it seems to have survived the return journey all right, but I will miss the ease (yea, the necessity) of walking so much more than it's practical to do at home.

I miss walking through the University parks, either accompanied (and having good talks), or alone while trying to sort out my papers (or thoughts on life in general) . . .

. . . and this little cottage-building at the turn out of the University parks that says, "you're almost there!" . . .

. . . and, of course, the red mail collectors (into which I dropped a grand total of six postcards, four of which actually had addresses on them [kind of important; if you didn't get a postcard from me it may be in a rubbish bin at some British post office -- with your name on it]) . . .

. . . the number 7 bus back to Headington, which was a great comfort except for the day that I needed to use it to hurry to Wycliffe, and the driver saw me and a few other passenger-hopefuls standing on the curb, but didn't stop . . .

. . . the bus stop (pictured here with Megan and Emily) where Dan and M~J, awkwardly laden with a laptop and speakers, waited with me and played doctor the day that I felt lousy and had an earache and a paper to write . . .

. . . Wycliffe Hall, where we learned many things and sat through the exposition of many more . . .

. . . the friendly cow pasture and the cattle grates that eat cows' feet and Californians' flip-flops.

(And I do miss my brown flip-flops -- which, though they were not prey to the cattle grate, nonetheless failed to make it home.)

I have found your blogspot muwhahaha! I love your photos! I too miss the walking and the talking and the beautiful view. And...I must tell you, though it will sadden you greatly, *sob* my flip flop tan lines have started to fade :( I know how much you loved them *grin.* This is turning into a rather long comment. I hope this thing e-mails you when you get this comment and it isn't sent into comment oblivion. Oh, well I will continue to comment willy nilly and hope you get it

Emily! How sad, they faded. Oh well; it's just that the rest of your foot got envious and wanted to match. Or something. This is kind of irrelevant, but my sister told me today that she heard that they're making a Jane Austen biopic with Anne Hathaway as Austen. How awful is that? I hope you guys had a nice after-Oxford trip. I need to hunt your e-mail down and ask for the banana cookie recipe. Please do comment, willy nilly or no!
