A few weeks ago I did something highly inadvisable.
I sat down at my computer with a bag of Hershey's Kisses.
As the minutes ticked by, and the little wads of silver foil piled up (and those little paper things . . . I like the idea of the little paper things, but between them and the silver foils it gets to be an awful lot of trash for not too much chocolate), I found myself looking for more and more things to read, sites to browse, things to click . . . and the chocolate went down and the foils piled up, the chocolate went down and the foils piled up, the chocolate went down and the foils --
Ahem.
So, today, I sat down at my computer with a bag of carrot sticks (I also got up at 6:00 a.m., proving that this is indeed the day after Christmas and that I am sort of doing what all of the American women who aren't out shopping are doing [and maybe some of those, too] and deciding to mend my ways and do good things like eat less and sleep more).
The effect of the carrot sticks was surprising.
Like the proverbial donkey, I found the carrot motivating (if not attractive). Very motivating. Motivating me to get up off the computer and do something else. Anything to stop eating carrot sticks . . .
And . . . well, that was just a general observation on life.
Carrots can help decrease desire for internet consumption.
