Most days I have a song -- one specific song that hits me usually in the morning and that my mind keeps on continuous play throughout the day. A lot of the time there's one particular line that sticks out.
Today's line is from "Lord, Reign in Me":
"May my life reflect/The beauty of my Lord."
Not accidentally, I have been thinking this week about freedom in Christ and the promise of the life He offers us compared to the drab idea of the Christian life as a series of rules and regulations and thou-shalt-nots -- an idea that seems to attack me especially strongly when I realize the depth of my hypocrisy (as if the way to change that is to follow more rules more carefully).
But what a different perspective when I think that my mission on earth is to glorify Christ, treasure Him, and reflect His beauty.
It makes things so much simpler just to turn all my aim in life -- in everything -- and place it under one banner of "to glorify Him more." Maybe this is what He meant by "My yoke is easy and My burden is light"?
