His Word my hope secures

Last night I was reminded of my favorite verse of "Amazing Grace," which I remember discovering with great delight the summer that No. 5 was born (10 years ago now):

The Lord has promised good to me;
His Word my hope secures.
He will my Shield and Portion be
As long as life endures.

The more I think about it, the greater this is. If I were to pick a verse out of hymndom today to synthesize what I've been learning in my walk with Christ, this would be one of the top three. It really encourages me that somehow God planted something in the heart of a 14-year-old that would grow and still be part of His plan now.

He knew where I would be, now, when He showed me that verse, then.
