it's official

Today I started to move back into the law office.

So far I've moved my business cards. But tomorrow I will move in earnest ("move in earnest" means that I will move those casebooks and hornbooks which I have strategically retained because I liked the colors of their covers).

To put it in relationship terms, this thing between me and the law office is not a like a marriage. I mean, it's not exclusive. And I won't be changing my last name. Well, actually, it might be kind of like a marriage for a modern woman -- you know, I'll commit to this and this and this, but I WON'T change my last name and I WON'T let it swallow my "identity" (whatever that is), and I will STILL pursue my "dreams" (whatever those are).

(Actually, today is a really bad day for a Californian to make marriage analogies.)

But, all in all, I am very happy. My new office is small and cheerful and has a tree and a red wall. And I have really missed working in the office a lot for about two years now. It is good to be back.

So, for all my readers out there with estate planning needs, come by and see it . . . (anybody else can come by and see it, too, even if you don't have estate planning needs -- but then, who doesn't?)

Emily, I am so excited for you. I guess I haven't talked to you in a while. We need to talk more. So is this full time, part time???? What will you be doing?

Yay, very exciting! I miss the office, too, and I'm here all the time . . . not sure if that's a good thing. You know what I really miss is scintillating conservative dialogue. Oh, and I miss the optimism of the pre-9/11 Bush administration and the post-9/11 patriotism . . . next up, "Is Obama the Antichrist?"

Becky, I'm just helping on a project-by-project basis, so it's part-time. But I still have my own office, which is really really super happily nice.

Jonathan, that's a lot of what I missed too. I walked in yesterday afternoon for what was apparently the second round of discussion on the recent doings of the CA Supreme Court. It was way fun.

Emily, I have all those hornbooks and casebooks in my office, too, even though I doubt I'll ever use them. All because their pretty colors look attractive on my bookshelves. =)
