I don't know that I've ever felt so much a part of a group bout of sickness. It just seems like a lot of people are sick with weird cold-like things.
The group illness phenomenon cuts out some of the sympathy that you get for being sick, but it really plays up that misery loves company aspect.
Today a girl behind me in Spanish lit class was coughing, too, and I almost wanted to turn around and say, "You're sick, too? Do you have that tickly throat thing and a headache?" -- kind of the way you might be excited if you loved David Copperfield and somebody in class made a loving allusion to Agnes.
Yeah, kind of like that.

The group illness thing is even better on planes, specifically when the person on the plane next to you is sick with the same thing you are. At least neither of you have to feel guilty for getting the other one sick.
