Here are the Ramadan lights Ahmad put up on our apartment building the night before I left. I was sad not to get to know them better. But, hey, we took a picture.

I wonder if he'll leave them on for six months like families here leave their Christmas lights.

Actually, in the Arab world, it's a wonder they ever come down at all.
