procrastinators anonymous

Seeking solace after getting a "B" on my first Political Science 100 quiz (after an ENTIRE HOUR of study), I googled for quotations on "procrastination."

I thought I would find comforting platitudes from fellow procrastinators -- the kind of people who check their schedules on Monday morning and realize, much to their surprise, that they have two tests, a quiz, and an offertory this week, and then hasten to find a new book to read or hobby to take up.

Alas.

This is is what I found:
If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he next comes to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination.
-- Thomas De Quincey, Murder Considered as One of the Fine Arts - 1827

I think Mr. De Quincey had really messed up priorities. Or maybe I am missing the irony or something.

Anyhow, I guess it's time to get to work.

I hope I didn't interrupt too much.

Procrastinators don't have interruptions; they have opportunities for welcome distractions.
