So here I was in the family room working on my laptop while my dad was watching a documentary on tunnels, and lo and behold I looked up and there was the Mont Blanc tunnel and the place where we were pulled over and questioned by French police.
It was a weird feeling.
More on the international incident (with pictures[!] -- but none of the French police) later . . .

That would be weird. I just looked online at pictures of the tunnel. I didn't know it was "famed." Maybe 38 Euros wasn't such a bad deal. We should have gone back.
