Moses and the chicken question

No. 2, who will be at school until 9:00 p.m. but refuses to waste her money on cafeteria food, was up this morning packing egg salad sandwiches for both lunch and dinner.

Along the way we had a noteworthy exchange:

the_mother: Why don't you just go to the cafeteria for dinner?
No.2: NO. Not for $8.50. For that I could go to an expensive restaurant.
the_mother: But then you would have to drive to the expensive restaurant.
No.2: NO. I'll make two sandwiches.
the_mother: Well, I only boiled you three eggs.
No.2: They'll be skinny sandwiches.
No.1: Why don't you open a can of chicken and make chicken-egg salad?
the_mother: Isn't that like boiling a kid in its mother's milk?

Huh.

Somehow it does seem normal-er with tuna.
