This first week of school was a time for "getting to know you" activities. This is not my favorite thing ever, but I guess it serves a purpose.
One of my professors had us answer the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?"
I really don't like this question, mostly because what I want to be when I grow up is really complicated (kind of like what I "am" now; it's hard to pinpoint what exactly I "do," even in the framework of what I do to make paychecks come in the mail).
But I have found one answer I think I can live with.
When I grow up, I want to be . . .
hospitable.
Yep.
Or, amended, to differentiate it from Now, hospitable in my own house.
And, for anyone else out there who wants to be the same thing, here are two good articles -- one I've read and re-read, and one I'm posting here so that I don't forget the link:
Hospitality: Optional or Commanded?, Edith Schaeffer
A Biblical Theology of Hospitality, Jonathan Leeman

That's a hard question, but a nice answer. :o) I look forward to reading your links...but in the mean time, I get your drift on "in my own house". :)
