what I read instead of romance novels

I don't know if there are any lovers of Christian romance fiction out there (if there are, you may want to just skip this post), but I think we would all be much much better off if Christian bookstores demolished that entire section and promoted stories like this instead.

And that's my two cents . . .

Thanks for the challenge to deliberate and reconsider! I have read some good Christian fiction, but at least in my experience it seems like the same formula as the world's novels, just with Christian characters. Then you look at a life story like John and Mary Newton's, and you see that their relationship wasn't human love + God but human love through God's love. The other thing I value in biography over fiction is that it seems like the hardest times in life are often the monotonous times when NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENS; those seasons don't make it into novels very often (unless it's Tolstoy or Hugo discussing politics or sewers or something). Anyhow, I will defer to your experience as a real-life married person in sorting out fact from fiction. :]

Thanks again Emily for a great post. It's amazing to see God work in the lives of real people. His love is so amazing.
