Lately I haven't been to the library very much (when they remove the entire adult section for rennovation and put the used book store on hiatus, there really isn't too much motivation). [Ed revision: by "adult section" I mean grown-ups as opposed to children's; like the section where you might find an anthology of British literature instead of Dr. Seuss. Some of my readers thought this clarification necessary.]
But today I woke up wanting to go. Really wanting to. Missing the library -- the smell of it, the newspaper rack, the pleasure of driving past all of the lawyers in uncomfortable suits going into the courthouse and turning into the library parking lot instead -- all of it.
Why?
Because it's a holiday and the library's closed.
This happens to me nearly every holiday.
Holidays also make me want to send and receive mail. I wrote a bunch of cards on New Years and nearly went crazy having to wait a WHOLE DAY before I knew they'd be posted. And then the horror of knowing that NO MAIL is coming -- not even junk mail! The misery of it all.
Oh, and the bank. Today would be a great day to be able to go to the bank . . .

Email is your friend.
Online banking, too. :)
Haha...I feel your pain. I'm waiting for an overdue Christmas present from a friend in Germany and was just thinking, "I wonder if it'll come today?" Obviously it won't. So sad.
