Today I've been having to enforce rules that people don't like. This means making people not like you, or at least being there while they respond to not liking what you say, their true feelings about you personally being momentarily obscured.
I don't like this [part of my] job at all.
My last bout of law enforcement made me want to sit down on the sidewalk and cry and say, "I don't know why they have that rule, either, okay?! Okay??? I'm just as much a victim of this as you are! A victim, do you hear??? Except worse than you, because you can not like the rule and look unhappy about it, and I can not understand the rule but have to look matter-of-fact and certain and content about it. So would you just please, please be happy?!"
Instead I came up to my office to work on spreadsheets (which don't complain) and eat chocolate.
The unhealthy effects of chocolate aside, I believe that this is the better solution.

Are you saying that "policemen" are bad when they have to enforce unjust rules, or that you are yourself unfit to be a "policeman"?
Emily I think there's an anonymous policeman on your blog. We're on to you, copper!
Danke, Brendon. Go get 'em.
