Aiko tagged me for the 8 random things blog meme. (Which sent me to dictionary.com to find out what a meme was. And now I know.) Here are the eight random things:
(1) I played clarinet for about a month in high school. It was just long enough to infect my clarinet reeds with a nasty bronchial infection I had at the time (no, I know reeds can't get bronchial infections, but they can get weird black and greenish splotches), which I think cured me of ever wanting to play instruments that involved spit. I still feel bad about quitting, though.
(2) I like I Love Lucy marathons.
(3) I like Mark Twain, and I really liked Huckleberry Finn, but I've never got past the first chapter in Tom Sawyer.
(4) As a kid, I took lessons in ballet, gymnastics, swimming, ice skating, art, and roller skating. I was good at swimming.
(5) One of my favorite places to be is alone in the church sanctuary on a weekday afternoon.
(6) I only took 5/6 of the Bar exam.
(7) Probably the most fun season of my life so far was during law school when I was working at the law office and coaching debate. There was a lot going on, and I was teaching new and useful things, and school was hard but good, and life was happy and full of promise and people weren't getting wrinkles or gray hair or bald or sick and tired or cancer or married yet.
(8) I would like it if my kids could spend part of their childhood somewhere other than the US so that they can soak up another language and learn that there is more than one way to look at the world. (And if it can help ensure that they'll not grow up to be picky eaters, I'd be happy with that, too.)
