theology of grammar

Just now I was listening to John Piper preach two verses from 1 Peter 5 ("Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."), and he said this:
If you have a New American Standard . . . or the King James Version, there is no period because the word “cast” is a participle. Oooooh, big radical word, sorry. But it’s good to know those things, kids – it is, really is. Helps you read the Bible.
