Today in a half-mad dash to finish the snickerdoodles before choir, I was trying to soften butter in the microwave.

Our microwave is old, and almost broken.

And as I was softening the butter, I thought, "Herman is heating up the bowl but not the butter."

And that's when I realized: the microwave's name is Herman.

I don't know why it took me this long to find out.
