البقية

Today in GED class we studied pie charts. And we had a pie chart representing the budget of a landscaping business. And one of the categories in the chart was "miscellaneous."

In the nearly three months we've spent together, I've learned that the GED seems to be particularly crafted to befuddle ESL students. Given a list of reasonably understandable budget items, where does "miscellaneous" fit in? More complicated still, how does one explain that "truck repairs" must fall under miscellaneous because it is not listed anywhere else on the chart?

It makes enough sense when you understand all the words well. But if some words are still mysterious? And your teacher can't figure which ones those are?

Some days I really wish for straight up brain-to-brain communication.
