love is a tricky thing

I learned at school yesterday that "we [Californians] love chickens more than we love gays."

That was such a bizarre observation that it took me a while to think of a response, but here goes:

(1) I oppose granting marriage licenses to chickens. Leg room is one thing. Marriage licenses is another. I can even say I'd be opposed to chicken-chicken domestic partner benefits.

(2) I, along with -- I assume -- chicken eaters everywhere, am 100% for the union of hens and roosters (and ONLY hens and roosters!) in poultry "matrimony." Any other combination would be boring for chickens and leave the rest of us hungry.

It's just one of those things "written all over the world," like C.S. Lewis would say. I guess lots of people (just not a majority, yet) have given up reading.
